AUSIT Conference Delegate Chatting to Attendee at Exhibitor Booth

The Event

AUSIT – Australia’s national association for the translating and interpreting profession, sought the services of our OP Events Professional Conference Organisers to plan and execute their annual 2.5 day program.

Our brief was to work in lockstep with the AUSIT organising committee to facilitate an enriching program of learning, networking and growth opportunities to:

A) Highlight the crucial role that T/Is play in facilitating communication and understanding across diverse cultures, communities and industries.

B) Bring to life the 2023 theme of: Building bridges, strengthening alliances: Translation and interpreting in today’s connected world.

C) Uphold and build upon the standards, traditions and successes of the 35 year history of the National AUSIT Conference.

The Result

AUSIT’s 36th Annual National Conference, hosted at UNSW Sydney was the largest to date, achieving almost 500 registrations, 200+ abstract submissions and 65 sessions across plenary, workshop, presentation and roundtable formats.

The rich and diverse content program was balanced with an interactive exhibitor show, an evening welcome reception and a formal conference dinner.

The prestigious dinner took place at the Sydney Masonic Centre where attendees were entertained by diverse cultural performances and winners of the Excellence Awards were announced.

Catering to the diverse language needs of AUSIT attendees the event was supported throughout by simultaneous interpreting across Chinese, French, Korean, Lao and Spanish.

The 36th AUSIT Conference was heralded as a huge success, providing the opportunity to reflect on essential next steps in the national space, where important policies and protocols relating to translation and interpreting are yet to be implemented.

During the Closing Ceremony National President J. Angelo Berbotto ceremonially handed the bell, engraved with ‘AUSIT – 36th National Conference – Sydney’, over to Karine Bachelier, Chair of the Victorian Branch.

Our OP event organisers look forward to delivering a successful 37th AUSIT Conference in 2024.
